Children can receive their first measles vaccine (Measles Mumps Rubella MMR) as early as 6 months of age if they are in situations where they may be exposed to measles, such as travel to an area with an outbreak or low community immunity. This dose under 12 months of age gives babies temporary immunity and they will still need 2 more doses afterwards to have lifetime protection, i.e. at 12 months and 4 years old. The second dose can be given as soon as 6 months after the first dose in situations of high risk.
Please note that insurance may not cover vaccinations outside of the CDC recommended schedule,
therefore parent will be financially responsible. Parents with further questions please portal your Provider.
